L’Oréal Brazil Opens Beauty-Exclusive Biomethane Gas Station

January 22, 2026 – According to official news from L’Oréal Group, the world’s first biomethane gas station exclusively for the beauty industry, co-built with Brazilian biomethane producer Gàs Verde, has officially been put into operation. The gas station provides 100% biomethane fuel for the logistics fleet between L’Oréal Brazil’s factories and distribution centers, supporting the construction of a green supply chain. As Latin America’s largest biomethane producer, Gàs Verde operates 12 renewable energy plants in 6 Brazilian states. This cooperation not only achieves zero fossil fuel consumption in the logistics and transportation link but also reduces significant carbon emissions compared with traditional fuels. L’Oréal Brazil plans to realize that 60% of its sold products will be transported by biomethane-powered trucks by 2030, with all deliveries in the southern and southeastern regions using renewable fuels. This project provides a replicable practical plan for the sustainable transformation of the logistics link in the global beauty industry.

Fungal Technology Turns Waste Textiles into Beauty Ingredients

January 20, 2026 – Novobiom, a Belgian biotech company selected for L’Oréal’s sustainability innovation accelerator, announced the latest progress of its fungal conversion technology, which can transform waste textiles into high-value biosurfactants for the beauty industry, realizing the upcycling of waste. It is reported that Novobiom’s biotech platform uses the natural decomposition capacity of fungi to convert clean and non-toxic waste textiles, cotton blends, and other scraps into biosurfactants. This ingredient can be widely used in beauty cleansing products such as facial cleansers and body washes, featuring both gentleness and environmental friendliness. Currently, the company has established cooperation with large industrial enterprises such as L’Oréal and participated in multiple EU-funded projects. Its technology not only reduces textile waste pollution but also reduces the beauty industry’s reliance on petrochemical raw materials, providing a new paradigm for the industry’s circular economy.

2025 Beauty Ingredient Trend: Integration of Nature and Technology

December 15, 2025 – Industry research reports show that the 2025 beauty ingredient trend is characterized by “precision efficacy and sustainable ingredients”. Eight core ingredients dominate the skincare segment, among which integrated ingredients of biotechnology and natural plant extracts have become mainstream. Among biotech ingredients, recombinant collagen has become a major anti-aging component due to its high compatibility, with Guangzhou Jiyuan Biotechnology registering 293 related products throughout the year; Thiamidol 630, a whitening ingredient screened by AI, is far more effective than traditional ingredients and has become a core choice for high-end whitening products. Among natural plant extracts, bakuchiol, known as “plant retinol”, balances anti-aging effects and gentleness, suitable for sensitive skin; sea buckthorn leaf extract has become a representative of sustainable skincare due to its “recyclable” raw material attribute. In addition, innovative ingredients such as photolyase and supramolecular collagen peptide complexes have broken traditional efficacy boundaries through genetic recombination and supramolecular technology, driving the upgrading of ingredient-conscious consumption.
